INSTRUCTIONS

The PHRF number (Performance Handicap) assigned to your boat will be based on the accuracy of the data you supply on this form in conjunction with the Race Data Comparisons (Performance) of your boat and others.  Since we are limited in the number of measurers, we rely on the honesty of the individual skipper.  We trust that skippers will notify us immediately of any modifications during the race season.

  1. IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION:  Complete the first section. Sail numbers can be obtained through US SAILING association. Indicate that you understand your responsibility by signing as Master.  The Rating Committee will sign the form after the rating has been assigned.

  1. DIMENSIONS/SAIL AREA:  Fill out the Dimension section for your boat. It will be compared with factory supplied equipment and sail inventory provided by the designer or builder.  Be sure to provide WEIGHT as the boat will be raced and within accordance to class rules. ATTACH any Sail Certificates, Boat Measurement Forms, Rating certificates, Weight Slips or Photos to support your data and which will be helpful to the Rating Committee in assigning a fair handicap. Keep in mind that this is a RACING/CRUISING CLASS.

Be sure to indicate correct sail area for each sail to be carried while racing. If you carry sails that are not stock, or are unique to the standard design, be sure to provide the correct sail area, either by measurement or sail makers certification.  You must meet the rules for rating before a new sail can be used in any given race. DO NOT SHOW UP AT A RACE WITH AN UNREPORTED SAIL AND EXPECT TO USE IT.

      C.  MODIFICATIONS TO STANDARD BOAT:  If you have changed any part of the boat or

Added any equipment, it must be described in the box marked MODIFICATIONS TO STANDARD BOAT.  EXAMPLES would be: Adding a bowsprit, lengthening rudders or boards, replacing an aluminum mast with a carbon fiber mast, moving an inboard rudder outboard, stripping the boat, etc.  This does not address safety or navigational equipment.  You need not report equipment which has been replaced as part of normal maintenance, unless it results in a lighter or faster boat. The intent is to be able to give a fair handicap rating.  BE SURE ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THE STANDARD BOAT ARE LISTED IN THE BOX ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE!
